Fire and Aviation
The US Forest Service has a proud history of aviation operations in wildfire. A wide variety of aircraft ply their trade in wildfire and at Monument we train to work seamlessly with these aviation resources. Single engine airtankers, heavy airtankers, type 1 helicopters and medium workhorses are often seen over the smoke; as a Monument Helitack crewmember you'll be part of the action. Calling in the drop or building loads for the longline, it's all part of the job.
While assigned to a large fire helibase we can fill many positions; from Helibase and Helicopter Managers to Cargomaster, ABRO and remote helispot staff. A helicopter crewmember is versatile, creative and often called on to use their leadership and organizational abilities to further the mission of safe practice in aviation operations.

The diversity of mission types in wildfire aviation is what keeps crewmembers coming back every year. Initial attack with a type 3 helicopter in the high country, troop shuttles with a Bell medium in Idaho, zeroing in a drop from the Skycrane or building loads for the K-MAX... all this hand-in-hand with straight-up wildland firefighting. At Monument we work hard to provide quality helicopter crewmembers and aviation managers to further the USFS goal of safety and efficiency in aviation ops. Bring your experience, bring your motivation, bring your A-game. We are always looking for dedicated firefighters and we'll provide the training to get you on the line and in the air. |
